Eastern Europe: Slavs and non Slavs

After the collapse of the Soviet system, the second biggest political achievement of the West for the last seven years is to be considered the split of the east Slavonic triple: Great Russians, Minor Russians and Byelorussians, into separate states. The union of these three had been the traditional basis of the solidity of Russian factor for many centuries. The countries, the peoples of which bear historical-traditional unfriendliness towards Russia, form the second line of the Slavonic world. Therefore, Poles and Czechs can't serve as a support for Russia in the future, taking into account the community of religion with Europe and the gloomy memories of Communist Russia's hegemony. As for non Slavonic peoples, Romanians, Moldavians and the Baltic peoples had had an aversion for Russian "colonizers" for four decades and now they are ready to get rid of any influence as soon as possible. There has been formed such a psychological situation in those areas that any attempt to re-establish Russian influence will be sensed as a threat for final destruction. Nevertheless, there are two nations in Europe which have been and still can be Russia's military-political support. They are orthodox Slavs: Serbs and Bulgarians.
